Dr. Hani Al-Sharif Selected as Ambassador and Strategic Partner for the United Nations Organization for Training and Media in the Kingdom
In a strategic move aimed at strengthening humanitarian frameworks and advancing the training, media, and international education sectors across the Arab region, the United Nations Training and Media Organization (UN MTC) has officially announced the appointment of Dr. Hani Al-Sharif as an ambassador and member of the organization. He has also been designated as a strategic partner and official representative in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with the agency’s headquarters based in Jeddah.
This international decision reflects deep appreciation for Dr. Al-Sharif’s distinguished record of service and serves as a culmination of his sustained community-focused efforts. These endeavors have transcended the local level, earning the respect and acclaim of major relevant international bodies and organizations—particularly in light of the exceptional diplomatic skill he demonstrated at the recent “Hope Makers” conference held in Egypt, which was attended by the Egyptian Minister of Culture, Dr. Gihan Zaki.
In the rationale for its decision, the organization explained that the selection of Dr. Hani Al-Sharif is grounded in a solid foundation of competence and field experience; Al-Sharif possesses extensive knowledge and practical expertise in the fields of human and community development, alongside a proven ability to formulate impactful initiatives that serve the target groups.
Mohamed Abu Zaid, the Organization’s Director-General for the Middle East and North Africa, commended the significant role played by Dr. Hani Al-Sharif, highlighting his international stature and strategic value. The decision to designate Dr. Al-Sharif as a “Strategic Partner and Official Representative in Jeddah” aims to build a robust bridge for communication—supporting professional and media development programs and expanding the scope of volunteer initiatives—in alignment with the ambitious development visions currently unfolding in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In a special press statement following the announcement, Dr. Hani Al-Sharif expressed his deep gratitude and pride in this esteemed international confidence shown by the United Nations Organization for Training and Media, affirming that this appointment places new and pivotal responsibilities upon him.
Al-Sharif added, “Being named an ambassador and strategic partner for the organization in our cherished homeland is not merely an honor; it is a profound responsibility and a mandate that instills in me an even greater sense of duty toward the community. We are entering a phase that requires a concerted effort to present an exemplary image—one that combines the gravitas of media with the depth of academic training—thereby serving noble humanitarian goals and enhancing the effectiveness of institutional volunteer work.”
Media personality Mohamed Abu Zeid concluded by noting that the selection of the organization’s representatives across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was by no means arbitrary; rather, it was conducted with great care and diplomacy. He pointed out that the organization is preparing to host the “Hope Makers” conference in the Kingdom in 2027 and will include only key, impactful figures from the community.
For his part, Dr. Hani expressed his gratitude, stating: “I am honored by this gracious vote of confidence, and I view it as the beginning of a new responsibility rather than a final destination. What pleases me most about this assignment is that it aligns with my conviction that true investment lies in investing in people—through education, training, purposeful media, and institutional volunteer work.”
God willing, I will work with all partners across the public, private, and non-profit sectors to develop impactful initiatives that foster talent, empower youth, and promote a culture of social responsibility—all in alignment with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
