Maatouk Coffee Empire Goes Global: New Branch in Morocco Crowns 75 Years of Heritage Blended with Emirati Innovation and Lebanese Authenticity
Mrs. Samira Mahmoud Maatouk, the prominent Emirati businesswoman and industrialist of Lebanese origin, continues to write new chapters of exceptional success in the world of business and finance. The “Samira Maatouk Group” has announced the inauguration of its latest luxury coffee branch in the Kingdom of Morocco, a strategic move that underscores the capability of Arab women to lead major economic institutions toward global horizons.
This qualitative expansion reflects a long-standing historical journey that began in 1949 when the late Mahmoud Maatouk established the “House of Coffee” in the heart of the Lebanese capital, Beirut, near the Lazarieh area. Over the decades, the prestigious brand evolved from a local favorite into a major economic empire spanning the globe.
A Worthy Successor: The Strategic Turning Point
The year 1996 marked a pivotal turning point for the group, as Mrs. Samira Maatouk took the helm of the family business. With her sharp vision and bold investment strategies, she successfully elevated the brand from “Maison De Café Maatouk” to global prominence under the name “Maison Samira Maatouk.” Today, the brand boasts more than 80 branches worldwide and has crowned its success by obtaining the prestigious international ISO 22000 quality certification.
The developmental footprint of the first female industrialist in the UAE was not limited to traditional management. She actively adapted to global market demands through massive industrial investments. In 2010, the group opened its first world-class, integrated factory in Abu Dhabi for manufacturing, packaging, and exporting coffee using advanced technologies—the first of its kind in the Gulf region. This was followed by the launch of a second factory in 2019 to meet the growing global demand for its products.
Global Expansion from the Middle East to New York
The group’s expansion roadmap is accelerating remarkably. Following significant successes with the opening of luxury coffee boutiques in The Galleria Mall in Abu Dhabi, Egypt, and Iraq, the Moroccan station opens new horizons for the group in North Africa. This comes alongside imminent future expansion plans into New York, USA, and Turkey.
Today, the branches and headquarters of the Samira Maatouk Group have transformed into a vibrant hub attracting prominent political, media, cultural, and artistic figures from across the region and the world. Supported by the new generations of the family, the group remains dedicated to blending innovation with a historical heritage exceeding 75 years. It continues to employ the latest coffee manufacturing technologies in KIZAD, Abu Dhabi, embodying a sophisticated industrial identity and supporting major economic initiatives.
